Rainbow Cupcakes

For my daughter’s birthday, I decided on cupcakes. She is away at college and I’m not there to celebrate with her. So I made her a cake that she can keep for longer than a week!

I chose this sweet cupcake design and used my Cricut to cut all of the pieces. Having everything cut by a machine makes it all so much easier.
The frosting layers were cut from soft shades of solid cardstock. Then I cut the layers of the cupcake liners from a white glitter stock and it was just the right amount of shine.
I used a precision tip on my Multi Medium Matte glue to make sure there was glue in all the right places. This glue is meant for various surfaces so it’s perfect for a glittered paper.

For a fun trick, I made the sprinkles out of glue. I spread a small line of the Multi Medium Matte glue on the frosting, and then sprinkled it with a fine white glitter. The glue dried and created a solid little sprinkle. It turned out so cute!
To add interest to the background panel, I created stripes with solid cardstock. The black and white stripes felt like a Sweet Shop to me. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Now to work on the inside. I really wanted it to be special so I added a thin black frame and some coordinating circles. This way I would add color yet not overwhelm the panel. I still needed room to write how much I miss her and love her!
I hope this adorable card inspires you to create something beautiful. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
