Hand Painted Poppies

Hi! Today’s project is a card for my in-laws. They are celebrating their 50th Anniversary! 50 years is amazing…someday that’ll be me 🙂 I wanted to make something special and hopefully they would see how important they are to me.
I used this beautiful background stamp from Simon Says Stamp. It’s called Poppies Background. When this stamp was released I saw an example of it used in a watercolor card and I was so inspired!
I began with a panel of watercolor paper and stamped a portion of it using Pumice Stone Distress Oxide ink. This allowed a no line coloring technique. I used my Kuretake watercolors and began laying down different layers of reds and yellows to build dimension.

The process took time but I wanted to take it slowly so I had control over the paint. I’m glad I took my time because in the end, I’m really happy with the way it turned out.
I added a gold ‘love’ die cut in the open space to round out the design. I was such a fun project and I love these sweet poppies. I can’t wait to use this stamp in other projects.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!!
