A Gray Day

Sometimes a card needs a more somber mood. This card says so much without saying anything at all.

I love this image by Simon Says Stamp. It’s part of their Follow the Rainbows stamp set and I can’t wait to try out all of my ideas. Today’s card uses just a few supplies and I love how it turned out.

I started with a gray cardstock panel and used a Simon Says Stamp stencil to ink my clouds. This time I used a sponge applicator and bright white pigment ink. I left some space at the bottom so my image would have a place to stand.

I inked my panel and added shimmer spray to it and my red umbrella. That was the perfect touch to give it a rainy feel. To finish off my card I added a torn piece at the bottom and had the image line up just right. This was inspired by a card Heather Hoffman did. She gave her blessing for me to use her idea, and this is what I ended up with. (She’s fantastic and you can find her on YouTube at Houses Built of Cards)

I did a simple inside to match the mood of the card with a beautiful gray and red.
