Chunky Happy Birthday

My project today is a Birthday card using the Chunky Happy Die set from CZ Design. I love the letter type and I was inspired to try this paper stripe technique.
I first cut the word in white and layered two together for some dimension. Then I made a striped background using 3 shades of purple. Next, I cut Happy from it so that I would have the letter inserts in a purple stripe.
To go with that main sentiment, I added a sub-sentiment that is from Clearly Besotted. I heat embossed it on black for a graphic contrast. I chose not to pop it up so that it didn’t take away from the focal point.
To finish off the design I used Simon Says Stamp Geo Leaves stencil. I added some Milled Lavender ink with a blending brush. It gave that soft inky look I was going for. Stencils are perfect for adding that extra design element without going overboard!
For the inside, I just repeated the stencil pattern and made sure to leave room for a message. I think it turned out great and I can’t wait to use these supplies on more projects!
Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!
